About Karyn Murphy

I am a self-taught multi-discipline artist living in Homer, Alaska. While working as a scientist and naturalist, I began creating traditional medieval illuminated calligraphy. Bookbinding, weaving, pigment making, and papermaking were added to my skillset by researching, experimenting, studying the work of master artists, and participating in guilds/workshops. I incorporate these diverse skills in my work, weaving them together in unique ways.
